Tata Motors launched its Harrier EV with claimed 627 Km Range, Lifetime Battery Warranty & True Off-Road Capabilities

Tata Motors has officially unveiled the production version of its highly anticipated all-electric Harrier, and it’s nothing short of impressive. Initially showcased as a concept during the Auto Expo, the Harrier EV has now evolved into a full-fledged, go-anywhere electric SUV. It recently made its production debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, marking a significant step forward for the Indian EV space.

Long Range, Dual Motor, and Serious Performance

At the heart of the Tata Harrier EV lies a robust electric drivetrain built for both city streets and off-road trails. The EV claims a substantial range of 627 km on the MIDC cycle, with real-world figures hovering between 480 to 505 km, making it one of the most practical electric SUVs in its segment. This range flexibility is supported by two battery options — 75 kWh and 65 kWh — allowing customers to choose based on their driving needs.

Power is delivered through a dual motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, with a 116 kW induction motor up front (sourced from Tata AutoComp) and a more powerful 175 kW motor at the rear from Schaeffler. Combined, the Harrier EV puts out 504 Nm of peak torque, with a special Boost Mode pushing performance even further to deliver up to 235 bhp and 340 Nm — enough to do 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds.

Terrain-Ready Electric SUV

Tata clearly had more than just urban commutes in mind when designing this EV. Built on the new Acti.ev+ platform — a heavily reworked and electrified version of the OMEGA Arc architecture — the Harrier EV is engineered for rugged trails too. It offers terrain modes such as Mud, Rock Crawl, Snow/Grass, Sand, and more, enhancing its all-weather and off-road prowess. The SUV is capable of handling steep climbs, boasting a gradeability of over 50%, while the approach, departure, and breakover angles (25.3°, 26.4°, and 16.6° respectively) further reflect its serious off-road credentials.

Additional features like Off-Road Cruise Assist, a transparent mode for better terrain visibility, and a 360-degree camera system bring a layer of confidence to challenging driving situations.

First-in-Segment Features and Cabin Comfort

Inside, the Harrier EV looks familiar to its ICE sibling but brings a more tech-forward cabin. A large 14.5-inch QLED touchscreen — claimed to be the world’s first in an automotive application — takes center stage, offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and access to over 25 built-in apps. A fully digital driver display with EV-specific graphics complements the modern layout.

For audiophiles, the Dolby Atmos sound system promises a rich in-cabin experience, while tech-savvy users will appreciate features like Level 2 ADAS (from Intel’s Mobileye), auto parking with summon mode (developed in collaboration with Continental), and India’s first 540-degree camera with kerb impact alerts.

Harrier EV Features

Fast Charging, Practicality & Local Manufacturing

The Harrier EV supports fast charging — it can juice up from 20% to 80% in just 25 minutes via a 120 kW DC charger, and offers up to 250 km of range in just 15 minutes. Tata also provides home charging options including a 7.2 kW charger and a portable 3.3 kW unit, ensuring flexibility for different users.

Adding to its real-world usability are V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionalities, making it possible to power other devices or vehicles — a feature still rare in Indian EVs. Tata’s partnership with Schaeffler and the use of locally developed LFP battery packs further boost the Harrier EV’s “Made in India” appeal.

Price, Colors & What’s Next

The Tata Harrier EV starts at Rs. 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes with a lifetime battery warranty — an offer that could potentially set a new benchmark in the EV market. Five distinct color choices add flair, including Stealth Black, Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey, and Pristine White.

Bookings for the Harrier EV open on July 2, 2025, and Tata is not stopping here. The company is gearing up to launch the next-generation Tata Sierra in both ICE and EV avatars later this year. Meanwhile, the premium Avinya lineup continues to take shape, signaling Tata’s bold push to dominate India’s growing electric vehicle space.
